Eskom extends load shedding suspension – here’s the new schedule

 ·14 Oct 2023

Eskom will keep load shedding suspended until Sunday afternoon.

Eskom said that load shedding will remain suspended today, 14 October until 16:00 on Sunday, 15 October.

Thereafter, stage 2 load shedding will be implemented from 16:00 until 05:00 on Monday, 16 October.

The embattled power utility said that this is possible due to breakdowns dropping to 12,168 MW whilst generating capacity out for planned maintenance stands at 6,484 MW.

“There’s a correlation between planned maintenance and the rate of failures of the units. The team is seeing when they return the units; these units remain on load for longer periods… their efficiency and reliability are improving,” the electricity minister Ramokgopa said earlier this week.

The schedule for the next few days can be found below:

Saturday, 14 October

  • 05h00 to 00h00 – Suspended

Sunday, 15 October

  • 00h00 to 16h00 – Suspended
  • 16h00 to 00h00 – Stage 2

Monday, 16 October

  • 00h00 to 05h00 – Stage 2
