DStv Stream launches in South Africa
MultiChoice South Africa has announced a revamp of its smartphone apps and streaming service called “DStv Stream”, effective 1 August 2023.
According to the CEO of Multichoice South Africa, Marc Jury, this updated offering is aimed at delivering a smoother, simpler streaming experience by introducing a host of new features.
All the familiar features, including favourites, profiles, account information, viewing history, watch lists, downloads, Catch-Up, BoxOffice, and live TV will carry over.
The offering includes significant enhancements:
- Tailored personalisation to discover content that matches viewer preferences.
- A streamlined, simpler user interface for uninterrupted streaming.
- Availability of multi-lingual soundtracks, including live sports commentary in isiZulu, isiXhosa, Portuguese, Afrikaans, and English.
Additionally, the platform introduces a new feature for sports enthusiasts – the league and tournament pages feature, offering intuitive and enjoyable follow-ups of favourite teams, cups and leagues, Multichoice said.
“To be a part of this exciting era, existing subscribers can update their current DStv app from 1 August.
“For those new to DStv’s streaming services, the new app can be downloaded from the app store of choice, and login can be done using self-service credentials,” said Multichoice.
The revamp includes six stream packages, ranging from R29 per month for DStv Stream EasyView to R799 for DStv Stream Premium.
Multichoice has also added a maximum of two streamers per account; however, the second stream can only be accessed via a mobile device such as a laptop, smartphone or tablet.
Premium also comes with Showmax at no extra cost, while the others offer it at a 50% discount.
It must be noted that the addition of a second stream comes at an additional cost, but this can be removed to one stream, which will reduce the monthly cost.
